JB Controls is a full-service contracting division of Johnson Barrow. We provide direct digital control (DDC) solutions that integrate across mechanical equipment for stand-alone, retrofit, new-construction, and commercial/industrial applications.
What sets us apart is deep knowledge of both controls and equipment. We deliver a one-stop-shop solution sized to each client’s needs, treating controls as part of the system from conceptual design forward — not an afterthought.

What We Deliver
JB Controls brings the same focus to every project: the controls teams coordinate with the equipment team, the project team, and the way the system needs to operate in the field. The same approach is considered when we are integrating into non-JB supplied equipment, because we fully understand the process and what is involved in making equipment operate as intended.
Stand-alone applications: Targeted controls for a single system — for example, a domestic hot water plant or a variable refrigerant flow (VRF) system — packaged to run independently or to tie into a building automation system (BAS).
Retrofit projects: Extending and upgrading building controls, integrated with the equipment and systems already on site. Where existing equipment can stay in service, we work with the design team to keep it running rather than default to full replacement.
New full-scale building automation systems: Whole-building control covering primary HVAC equipment — central plant chillers, boilers, and pumps; air handlers and packaged rooftops; variable air volume (VAV) boxes and fan coil units; garage CO/NO detection systems; and heating and cooling equipment down to individual pieces such as exhaust fans.
Capabilities
Design & Engineering: Our team develops sequences of operations, points lists, and control drawings tailored to each project’s systems, drawing on deep product knowledge across all equipment lines. That lets us design controls around how the equipment is intended to operate, not simply around a generic BAS specification.
UL508A Panel Shop: We can design and build low-voltage control panels and VFD panels for your projects.
Installation, Startup & Commissioning: We handle installation, startup, and commissioning in house. Close coordination with Johnson Barrow’s equipment groups on the same project means controls and equipment come online as one system — removing much of the integration complexity owners and general contractors otherwise absorb themselves.
When questions arise at the interface between controls and equipment, customers have one accountable Johnson Barrow team responsible for resolving them.
Product Lines
LG
JB Controls installs and integrates LG MULTI V VRF systems along with LG’s native BACnet control products — individual zone controllers, AC Smart/ACP central controllers, and Niagara/JACE BACnet or Modbus gateways for third-party BAS front end and integration. Our team delivers VRF control packages that can run stand-alone or integrate with building automation systems. We also support LG Therma V air-to-water heat pumps, with controls engineered for the flow, temperature, and sequencing these systems require.
Reliable Controls
JB Controls is an authorized Reliable Controls dealer and installer, backed by a five-year warranty. Reliable Controls hardware and software are BACnet-based and integrate third-party BACnet or Modbus devices. Controllers are fully programmable and scalable for large I/O counts, including central plant systems and any other large-scale equipment. Digital products are designed to function across generations of the Reliable Controls line, from the earliest products to the current generation. Reliable Controls has and will always be 100% backwards compatible from hardware to software.
